The Tactiplot navigation suite, developed by SkyDec, turned out to be an effective aid to assist the Dutch Marines in counter-striking Somali pirates.
By using landing crafts equipped with our Tactiplot navigation suite, the Dutch transport ship Hr Ms Johan de Witt was able to disturb pirate activities at the Somali coast twice in just a few days in April 2010.
Thanks to the use of our Tactiplot navigation suite the landing craft are able to operate further from the mother ship and thus closer to the coast. Instead of tracing and locating pirates at open sea, Johan de Witt patrols close to the cities to prevent the pirates leaving.
