SENER is taking part in the 8th International Particle Accelerator Conference (IPAC) for the first time.
The conference is the sector’s largest international meeting in the field of particle accelerators and will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, from May 14-19.
Last year, the event was carried out in Busan, Korea, and was attended by 1,555 delegates from 36 different countries. Scientists and engineers from particle accelerators and universities around the world joined, with many of them having influence in the main scientific research centres and facilities.
This year, SENER will have its own stand, which will feature equipment made by professionals at its Catalunya division, located in Cerdanyola del Vallès, Catalonia.
The company will be showing visitors the Nanometer Corrected Mirror Bender solution for synchrotron facilities based on technology transferred by the ALBA-CELLS synchrotron.
The system bends X-ray mirrors and offers greater precision than other conventional devices developed to date.
Within the area of synchrotron light sources and free-electron lasers, the developments in this new piece of equipment make it possible to improve the light beam optics, resulting in significant improvements in the quality of the results.
The product’s main advantage is that it provides a controlled and stable way of reducing errors in the mirror surface to levels several times below those offered by other technologies currently on the market.
This system joins SENER’s portfolio of state-of-the-art optical instruments, which include space projects such as the high-resolution and high-performance camera for the Spanish satellite SEOSAT/Ingenio, as well as optomechanical systems for the WHT (William Herschel Telescope).
Instruments also include the T250 telescopes of the OAJ (Javalambre Astrophysics Observatory), the E-ELT (European Extremely Large Telescope), the GTC (Great Canary Telescope), the VLT (Very Large Telescope), and the X-ray spectrometer installed in the CLAESS beamline of the ALBA Synchrotron.
