Norways’s JJ Ugland specified a Vestdavit sliding MOB davit for its new state-of-the-art platform supply vessel (PSV).
Built at Norway’s Kleven Verft Ulsteinvik shipyard, the 5,000dwt PSV Juanita was designed by Salt Ship Design and is powered by a pair of in-line contra-rotating propellers that are controlled independently by two permanent magnet motors.
Because of the short accommodation over a wide flared bow, Vestdavit supplied a PLRS-3600 sliding davit. This is a 3.6t MOB davit able to launch and recover boats in sea state 3-4.
The davit is mounted on a sliding frame that stows within the accommodation space to allow a clear working deck and moves aft in use to enable safe launch and recovery against a vertical ship side.
