Artron is an avionics subsystems supplier to aerospace and defence industries.

The company has extensive knowledge and broad expertise in the development of electronic hardware and software for aerospace and defence applications.

High-performance SoM solutions for aerospace and military applications

Cygnus family consists of system-on-modules (SoM) that enable the user to combine the software and hardware programmability of Advanced RISC Machine (ARM) processors and Xilinx field-programmable gate arrays (FPGA) integrated into Xilinx system-on-chips (SoC). Cygnus SoM family provides an end-to-end solution with different SoM models equipped with low-end, small package Zynq-7014s to high-end, complex architecture Ultrascale+ 7EV. Associated carrier boards for the family of SoCs are also available.

Cygnus SoMs are equipped with components capable of working under extended temperature range, including automotive-grade Xilinx SoCs. Offering high mating cycle, high-reliability board-to-board connectors SoMs are compatible with systems that require high vibrations. Cygnus SoMs are small form factor rugged cards that can be paired with Artron-developed carrier boards to reduce the application development cycle.

High-performance MEMS Grade Inertial Measurement Unit.
Cygnus-US+ CB Carrier Board is an evaluation board designed to accelerate the user's hardware and software development cycles when using the Cygnus family of SOMs as the main processor unit.
Cygnus-US+ SOM presents solid, flexible and cost-effective embedded platform for building the products that require high performance and reliability.
Using the Carrier Board and Cygnus-ZN SOM solutions of Artron together reduces the engineering effort of development teams and offers the advantage of focusing solely on target application.
Cygnus-ZN2 SOM is equipped with industrial-grade electronic components and is suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions.
Artron Cygnus-ZN3 SOM is based on the Xilinx Zynq XA7Z020-1CLG484 SOC. The Xilinx Zynq family features a dual-core ARM Cortex processor-based processing system (PS) and programmable logic (PL) in a single integrated device.

One of the features that creates a difference is the on-board Board Management Controller (BMC) IC. All power rails coming from the carrier board through the connectors are distributed in a controlled manner on the board. BMC (the lattice FPGA) ensures that the power inputs are within the allowed limits. This protects the SoM from electrical damages due to unintentional power inputs.

All components, including capacitors and resistors, are automotive-grade products and part of the Cygnus family of SoMs. The Cygnus SoMs operating temperature ranges between -40°C to 85°C and they are suitable for military applications, which offers a key advantage against its competitors.

Commercial aircraft communication boards

Tailored to the performance and physical requirements of the customer, Artron offers custom design solutions. For example, Artron designed and delivered an in-flight entertainment system. Following delivery, the product is tested and verified by the customer and integrated into the corresponding system.

Electronic safety and arming devices (ESAD) and fuses

Artron has broad expertise in the research, development, manufacturing and integration of advanced fuses for aerial munitions and custom fusing systems. We have developed several ESADs for warhead initiation and motor ignition. The designs are compatible with the corresponding military standards such as STANAG-4187, MIL-STD-331 and MIL-STD-1316, which define fusing requirements. The verification procedures for the devices are based on MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464, including EMP, HERO and direct / indirect lighting.

The safety features are defined independently and controlled by two different and completely independent logic elements. The logic elements and multiple accelerometers provide the ESADs with the necessary capability to calculate the safety distances and the soundness of the missile flight.

Store management systems

Artron offers different solutions for store management on air, land and maritime platforms. The store management systems developed by Artron are miniaturised in accordance with the ever-tightening dimension requirements of the aerospace industry. The emergent product family is the result of Artron’s extensive experience and knowledge in electronics design, embedded software development and rugged electromechanical integration.

The family of Miniaturised Stores Interface Units (mSIU) consists of products capable of interfacing two or four missile systems. Modular design architecture enables Artron to react rapidly to the evolving requirements of various integration schemes. mSIU family is verified in accordance with military standards MIL-STD-810G / 461F / 704F / 1275D and is proven in flight operations.

About Artron

Unique SoM solutions, flight control computers, MEMS-grade IMUs, ESAD, store management systems, telemetry systems, tactical data links, on-board flight termination systems, power distribution units, avionics communication boards (ARINC 429 / 717 / 664, AFDX), specific processing boards with FPGAs and microprocessors are some of the product groups that we offer to our customers.
