Statoil and Norwegian radar company ISPAS AS have signed contract for the installation of a new, advanced oil spill detection (OSD) radar system for the Johan Sverdrup field.
The new-generation OSD radar will be the first operational system to detect oil spill at sea within a wide range of weather conditions, including quiet and coarse sea states, regardless of visibility and light.
According to ISPAS, the contract is a breakthrough for the advanced radar system for environmental monitoring.
A video presentation of the new radar system can be viewed at the company’s YouTube channel.
