Cassidian has been awarded a contract to compile interactive electronic technical documentation (IETD) for the German Navy’s P-3C Orion cup maritime patrol aircraft.

The €15m contract task includes converting the hard copy of the documentation into a interactive SGML-based digital documentation that can be displayed on a standardised browser system (IETP-X Bw).

The conversions involve revising, digitising and newly creating 30,000 pages of text and image documents for the IETD and Cassidian will also provide maintainance and development engineering support.

The concept was devised in collaboration with ESG, which supports Germany’s P3-C Orion fleet.

Work will be carried out at the company’s facility in Manching and is expected to be completed by 2013.

The P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft was acquired from the Dutch Navy in 2006.
