The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) and the Royal Brunei Navy (TLDB) are participating in a week-long joint naval exercise, Exercise Hornbill 20/10, which began on 22 November in the South China sea.

The exercise will be conducted in three phases to foster cooperation between the two navies in defending their maritime waters, according to the Borneo Post.

The exercise aims to strengthen the diplomatic ties between the two nations and to share their experience to strengthen war procedures and tactics at sea.

About 500 officers and personnel from TLDM, TLDB and Royal Malaysian Air Force along with four warships and three aircraft will be participating in the exercise.

Malaysian Navy commander of region two First Admiral Datuk Anuwi Hassan will be the exercise commanding officer.
