During the patrol the Russian Pacific Fleet warships patrolled the passage of a Liberian tanker ship with 26 Russian crewmen onboard as well as a Gibraltarian carrier ship with six Russian nationals and five Ukrainians.
The fleet entered the pirate-threatened areas off the Horn of Africa and the Gulf of Aden on 29 July 2009 to escort the ships.
