The US Navy has awarded a $49m contract to technology solutions provider Alion Science and Technology to provide modelling and simulation support to the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic.

Under the contract, the company will provide software development support and other technical engineering services to the navy’s Atlantic centre.

Alion senior vice-president Rear Adm. Richard Brooks said that simulations and computer-based exercises help decision makers effectively work through their options and possible outcomes without risking lives, equipment and resources.

The company has teamed up with AEgis.net, AT&T Government Solutions, AUSGAR Technologies, Booz Allen Hamilton, DDL OMNI Engineering, L-3 Services, Northrop Grumman among others to accomplish the project.
