The US Navy has awarded a contract to engineers-consulting company Temeku Technologies for the procurement of the flight deck lights (FDL) system on the navy’s Zumwalt Class destroyer (DDG-1000).

The FDL system is a part of the future generation suite of visual landing aids which will be incorporated into the USS Zumwalt.
The system will provide a set of lighting fixtures for safe launch and recovery of aircraft on the ship and provide means to safely execute flight deck operations between the ship, pilot and flight deck personnel.
Work will be carried out in US as well as Italy and is expected to be complete by April 2011.
The $7.9m contract has been awarded by the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, New Jersey.
