Textron Systems operating unit Overwatch has been selected by Astrium Limited to provide satellite communications (Satcom) solutions for naval ships belonging to the United Arab Emirates.

Overwatch Shipboard Satellite Communications Solutions has been selected for the UAEs Yahsat-led initiative to build a multipurpose satellite communications system.

The initiative, which also involves EADS Astrium and Thales Alenia Space, will include three 1m, Ka-band shipboard antennas and accompanying radomes to be used aboard UAE naval ships.
