The fibre-optic splice kit provides rugged fibre splices that satisfy the low optical loss and operational reliability requirements of military optical fibre network environments.
Using the kit, a fibre-optic link broken due to battle damage or wear can be permanently repaired to its original performance.
The splice kit has completed military and aerospace environmental testing and verification of its extreme operating temperature range at the technology readiness level.
The new kit will be useful for all current fixed-wing military aircraft, ground vehicles, and command and control centres, the company said.
Agiltron is working in collaboration with the navy to have the technology available within the next 12 months.
The contract has been awarded by the US Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division.
