The US Navy will establish a new cloud computing network to manage data and services on a common hosted network accessible to all users in a bid to minimise network management on vessels.

The consolidated afloat network enterprise system will provide centralised software architecture by integrating the entire navy networking hardware.

The network will free up resources on navy vessels for warfighting and other capabilities and provide a common hosted computing environment for the entire fleet.

Future technological enhancements by the US Navy include grey clouds on each ship with centralised data storage and software provision, according to reports.
