The Iranian Navy operated hovercrafts equipped with a new anti-ship cruise missile system, known as Nour, during naval drills in the Strait of Hormuz and northern Indian Ocean.

During the third phase of the naval exercise codenamed Vellayat 89, the missile hovercraft transferred and deployed marine commandos and rapid reaction task forces in Iran’s territorial waters, according to the Fars News Agency.

The Nour is an indigenously built long-range anti-ship cruise missile, which has already been installed on several military vehicles.

In March 2010, Iran test fired the surface-to-surface missile from the navy’s indigenously built Jamaran destroyer.
