The US Navy’s guided-missile destroyer USS Lassen has successfully completed a three-month deployment and returned to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka in Japan.

During the deployment, Lassen made port calls to South Korea, Singapore, India and Thailand, and participated in exercises Foal Eagle 2010, Malabar 2010 and Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) exercise Thailand 2010.
The Arleigh Burke Class destroyer provided air defence coverage assistance to the South Korean Navy during their salvage and recovery efforts for the Cheonan warship that sank in the Yellow Sea.
The Lassen also participated in Malabar 2010 naval training exercise in India and conducted surface and anti-submarine warfare events, coordinated gunnery exercises, air defence operations as well as search and seizure drills.
Upon completion of Malabar 2010, Lassen deployed to Thailand to participate in CARAT 2010, a bilateral exercise involving US and Thai Navy ships, to practise a wide range of missions including maritime security to air defence and amphibious operations.
