The CANES programme aims to provide streamlined and updated shipboard network systems for improved interoperability and affordability across the fleet.
The system also offers cost and performance improvements including a modernised command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) architecture with increased security, and reduced development, deployment and lifecycle costs.
The company used MOSA-C, a strategic business and engineering process to verify plug-and-play modularity, and demonstrated the ability of multiple COTS and open source products to meet current and future requirements of CANES.
The critical design review of CANES will be tested later this year and the shipboard installation of the first system is planned for fiscal year 2012.
