Alion Science and Technology has received a contract to support weapon system modernisation efforts for the US Marine Corps (USMC).
Under the $47m task order, the company will analyse the impact of modern technologies on product support data for the life cycle of weapon systems.
Alion will modernise logistics processes, implement proven technology with best practises, and develop standards for performance.
The contract aims to allow commanders and programme managers to better understand each weapon system’s condition and identify components that may fail before the next mission.
Alion Rapid Solution Group senior vice-president and manager David Russell said: "By enhancing situational awareness data for decision-making and increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the logistics chain, Alion will help the Marine Corps efficiently manage their vast equipment portfolio and enhance overall readiness.
"Alion has provided HQMC I&L with product support modernisation services for six years and is excited to continue this very important work."
The task order was awarded by the Headquarters Marine Corps Installations and Logistics (HQMC I&L) for Life Cycle Support Modernization Services under the Defense Systems Technical Area Task Multiple Award Contract (DS TAT MAC).
Alion has earlier provided support in areas of integrating logistics command and control technologies and capabilities, maintenance modernisation, data management and exchange standards, decision support simulation and planning capability development, asset information management and automated armoury maturation, and overall portfolio management.
