Beechcraft Defense and FlightSafety International have delivered the last of 131 T-6 aircrew training devices (ATDs) to the US Department of Defense (DoD).
The final ATDs, which have been delivered to the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas, US, forms part of the US Military’s joint primary aircraft training system (JPATS) ground-based training system programme.
Beechcraft Defense president Russ Bartlett said that every single T-6 aircrew training device has been delivered on time and on budget.
"We’re proud to be able to say that all student pilots for the US Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps are trained in Beechcraft T-6 aircraft and the T-6 simulators produced in a partnership between Beechcraft and FlightSafety," Bartlett said.
Beechcraft and FlightSafety have also partnered to develop and deliver training devices for the T-6 pilot training programmes of international customers in Greece, Israel, Morocco and Iraq.
Designed to bridging the gap between academics and aircraft sorties safely and reliably, the high-fidelity T-6 training devices provide an unmatched capability while enabling user to conduct training events and manoeuvres in a safe, controlled, efficient and cost-effective environment.
In addition to offering versatile and flexible training capability for teaching introductory flight training tasks, the ATDs are advanced enough to carry out the more challenging and complex training missions.
T-6 models include the original JPATS-winning T-6A, the Navy’s T-6B and a third variant T-6C; they are also used by Nato Flying Training Canada, the Hellenic Air Force of Greece, the Israeli Air Force, the Iraqi Air Force, the Royal Moroccan Air Force and the Mexican Air Force.
