Under the multiple-awarded contract, the company will be the key training and simulation services supplier for the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division’s (NAWCTSD) training systems.
The company will also provide complementary instructional systems development products and training systems support including interim contractor support or contractor engineering, and technical services and provisioning for the initial support period.
Recently the US Navy awarded the $2bn TSC III contract to 28 companies, to be carried out in phases, with 18 companies competing for LOT 1 task orders and ten companies for LOT 2 task orders.
The 18 companies involved in LOT 1 task orders include QinetiQ, AAI, CAE, L-3 Communications, Lockheed Martin Global Training and Logistics, Thales USA Defense & Security and SACI.
The ten companies competing for LOT 2 task orders include Boeing, Cubic Simulation Systems, Computer Science and Indra Systems, with all orders expected to be placed by November 2016.
The TSC III programme, a US Naval Air Systems Command Team initiative, aims to provide an efficient, quick-reaction vehicle for the acquisition and support of training systems.
The contract will meet the training systems requirements of Naval Air Systems Commands Aviation Training Systems Program Office, and the Program Directorates for Aviation, Surface, Undersea, and Cross-Warfare/International.
QinetiQ’s Phase I contract has a five-year base ordering period with two one-year optional ordering periods and is expected to be completed by 2022.
